Pt 5 Biomolecules: Review!

This unit covered gobs and gobs of information. It requires a lot of memorization, rehearsal of patterns, and application. It really is a tough unit for a lot of kids and repetition and different ways of working with the material is really important.

Biomolecules Chart

I find the chart very helpful for kids to complete at the end of all 4 biomolecules. It helps them organize each of the categories and review what we have gone over. Here is the chart.

Review Choice Worksheet

Here is one of my favorite ways to spend a day for review. It offers a bit of choice, group work, and a variety of ways to go over the material.

First, I create a worksheet that contains all of the options for review. In this case, there are 4: Edpuzzle video, memory game, card sort, and online quiz. The students pick 3 out of the 4 to complete during class. They can complete the work in any order, they even can do all 4, but I choose 3 because there isn't usually enough to complete all 4. This all gives them the opportunity to some of the options at home as well. Here is what it looks like.

The items that are highlighted in yellow, are items the kids fill out. I assign this on Google Classroom so the links are working, and they can type in their answers. I do this more for accountability and so they can easily check answers in the card sort portion. The kids really do like it. They like the freedom of working at their own pace and they like having options.

This can be transitioned into a review for any subject. Just change out some of the options.

- I love using 3x3 Puzzles (One I have for sell on Amazon here)

- Memory Card Game (here is the one for biomolecules)

- any online quiz game (Kahoot, Quizizz, etc)

- videos to watch (Edpuzzle or even just a Youtube link and questions)

- article or reading

- graphic organizer

- vocabulary flash cards (I like to turn these into a game called Slap Card---silly---just lay out the cards vocab word up, then they say a definition and race to slap the card)

- card sorts

I hope you try it out!

Happy Teaching! Mrs. Townsend
